Oak Ridge Counseling Department
At Oak Ridge Intermediate, our counselors provide a comprehensive guidance program. The counselors present classroom activities designed to meet the developmental needs of students, covering three areas of curriculum: personal and social development, academic development, and career development. Our counselors work individually and in groups with students, consult with teachers and parents, and participate in building activities which contribute to the effective operation of the school.
Academics
- Working with teachers to maximize a student's ability to learn in a classroom. Focusing on positive language.
- Help build background knowledge to help students continue to be successful.
Career
- Exploring topics
- Possible Missouri Assessment
- Find Strengths/Weaknesses
Social Emotional
Individual
- Students will come to the guidance room for check in/check outs.
- Students may need a space for calming
Group Counseling
- Students will meet for 20-25 min. In special topic groups to discuss problem areas. This may occur once a week if a student is considered high risk.
