The gardening beds assist us in teaching our 5th graders about Living Systems. Students prepare the beds, plant, and grow their own fruits and vegetables in an effort to give them a hands-on learning experience. After weeks of maintaining the beds, students are able to harvest some of the foods they've grown and eat them. This project has been fully funded by The Home Depot of Osage Beach, Missouri. They have not only provided the dirt, fertilizer, seeds, and tools, but they actually showed up to build additional gardening beds so each classroom could participate.
